A Gem on Leadership

There is way way too much low-value noise in the business leadership and practice space, but occasionally there are a few gems that bring us back to basics.   Check out this excellent list of the traits of effective managers:

  • They motivate every singleemployee to take action and engage them with a compelling mission and vision.
  • They have the assertiveness to drive outcomes and the ability to overcome adversity and resistance.
  • They create a culture of clear accountability.
  • They build relationships that create trust, open dialogue, and full transparency.
  • They make decisions that are based on productivity, not politics.

We found this one in the Harvard Business Review (which we love).  As the full article details, these traits may be simple, but they are very rare.  See   http://blogs.hbr.org/2014/03/why-good-managers-are-so-rare/
